Last month we posted about a fan survey LEGO has released. Today we got notice the the survey is closing soon, and that LEGO is hopeful that there will be many survey respondents.

On a related note: there appears to be some level of reorganization of the LEGO community engagement team around better serving the large fan community. So with that in mind we would like to encourage you whether your 13, 90, or somewhere in between, buy a set a week, a year or every other decade, take some time and fill out the survey. There aren’t any prizes, but doing so can only benefit the Larger Lego Fan Base.

This year is all about Senior Solutions!
Team registration is open from May to September

In the 2012 Senior Solutions Challenge, over 200,000 children ages 9-14 (9-16 outside US, Canada and Mexico) from more than 60 countries will explore aging and how it may affect a person’s lifestyle.

Teams research obstacles and then suggest ways to improve the quality of life for the seniors affected. Teams also build, test and program a robot using LEGO MINDSTORMS to solve missions on an obstacle course. Throughout, teams operate under FLL’s signature “Core Values.”

I had the opportunity last year to participate as a judge and referee at both the regional state tournaments. The experience was great and left me itching for the time when my own kids would eb old enough to participate. FLL teaches kids and early teens teamwork, technology, good sportsmanship and how to have fun and solve problems. truely a great program.

Granite Peaks Life Long Learning is offering a 1 hour “Ready, Race Lego Class” on May 10th 2012 from 7 to 8pm at Hunter High School.

Your child uses creativity and imagination, along with principles of weight, symmetry, and balance to build, test, and race a lego race car with our ready race party. Parents are welcome to stay and play for free. If your child is under the age of seven, you must stay with them.

This Summer Play-Well.org, has teamed up with the Salt Lake Parks and Rec to Offer Some Engineering Summer camps for Kids.
According to the Play-well.org website the courses are designed by engineers to build upon the math and science skill kids learn in school to solve real world problem, while bringing in the fun and enjoyment associated with LEGO Bricks.

If you’ve got a youngster who loves LEGO, and aspires to be an engineer or your looking to add a little more structure to your child’s LEGO play this may be the opportunity for you.

There appear to be 2 course offered at various places in the valley geared to students ages 5 to 7, and 6 to 12. If you are interested in learning more click over to Play-well.org

Brick Journal today revealed the exclusive mini figure that is included in with he purchase of the upcoming LEGO Harry Potter Book Characters of the Magical World. The figure has been revealed to be Harry Potter in a suit. Little Drab I know, but for the ultimate Lego Harry Potter Fans out there it’s a must have and if history holds the only way to secure this figure will be by purchasing it the book, or waiting till it hits Ebay, and paying exorbitant amounts that would have easily cost less than buying it with the book originally.
