A more firing location for the unveiling of the latest in the annual addtions to the Winter village could not be found (unless of course there were a fan event in North Pole Alaska but htere’s not so there’s not).
This years addition, the Winter Village Market rings in at just over 1,200 pieces, and exceptional value for the $99 price tag. Acording to the LEGO press release, the set features:

It’s also interesting to see the new Creator Expert Series Applied to this continuing line of sets, where it hasn’t been before, Which I’m guessing means this will have some more complex building techniques than most of the past Winter Village sets have had.

ULUG does a lot of public shows and events, and one of the most common questions we get is where do you buy LEGO Trains, it’s not that there aren’t any, they just cost more, so you don’t usually see them at your local Walmart. But rest easy, Lego has released photos of their an upcoming new Train Set The “Horizon Express” Set Number 10233.
Horizon Express is slated to be part of the newly announce Creator Expert Series. Just looking at the photos, I can see some great techniques common with Adult Lego Builders that are making it into the more standard LEGO line.
The Train can be motorized using by adding the LEGO Power Functions accessories
If you want it, you’ll have to wait until January 2013, where you can buy it form Lego.com, but if you want a train now, you can pick up one of the other slightly less cool models here, or you can try your luck at specialty to resellers like Toys R Us, or other online stores like Amazon.com.
Purchasing from Amazon, or LEGO.com through the links below helps keep ULUG running.
All credit goes to "Sven" on moc-pages.com for the design. I reversed engineered it from a few pictures he posted. His model is quite faithful to trucks used by UPS that were made by International Harvester Company. I made a few minor changes. I had to make one eventually since I drive a brown truck for a living. Needs mirrors, is missing a few brown headlight bricks, and I have a plan to limit the "stamp" effect. Stickers are wrong scale, but oh well. I’m not sure if those brown tubes I used on the back are real Lego, just found them in a parts bin. …
Hey! I bought this on impulse a couple of weeks ago but I’m now trying to sell it because I need the money. Is there anyone interested in buying it. It’s brand new and unopened. I was going to sell it on Ebay but I just want to check here first to see if anyone is interested. It’s sold out in the stores at the moment, so this could be a great opportunity if you’re trying to buy one. I paid around $860 for it, with tax included, so I’m not willing to sell it for less than that. I will simply sell it to whomever is willing to pay the most.
As I am sure many of us have Lego ornaments on Christmas trees this time of year, please share a pic of one of your favorites that you have hanging this year – any design, MOC, designed by Lego, Chris McVeigh, etc. I’d love to see what people have. …
